I'm currently living in "the box" (corporate apartment about the size of a box) in SJ. I'll be moving up to Moss Beach (coastside on the peninsula, just past Half Moon Bay) in a few weeks... as soon as household goods and family arrive.

I like the idea of custom, but I will be getting an LEM plate which is +$35 already, and then add the custom plate fee on top of that... I don't know if it's worth it.

The LEM plate is Law Enforcement Memorial which gives you a special design and the $35 goes towards the LEM association. You can customize it on top of that, but I believe it's an extra $25.

For the time being, I'm still waiting on the standard issue plates from the state. Not sure how long it usually takes in CA, but I've had the car for almost a month... seems like I'd have had my regular plates by now.
We I pick up my car Oct. 3 07, got my standard plate in mid. to late Jan. 08 It's true out here you have to wait on the convicts to make the plates so if something happens here in prison, it will take longer. I ordered custom plates in Dec. and they arrived late Feb.
