Which Then Got Me to Thinking what if Someone was to Take a Standard HHR Wagon and Put Panel Side Rear Doors On It ? Kind of Like a Reverse AA5 Option ! Now That Could Be a Retro 70's Van Thing with a Side Rear Bay Window ! Give Them Port Holers a Run for There Money !

I'm doing the panel conversion to mine...eventually! Just weld her up!

Here's the prices from GMPartsdirect for panel door shells:

Item Number MSRP Price
15924979 $721.89 $443.15

DOOR

15924978 $791.77 $485.91

DOOR

They can be found at salvage yards, but expensive...I'm going to weld mine up!

The workmanship of their products is questionable, IMO (and others)... but we're not allowed to discuss product quality or one of our vendors will whine to the Admins.

Metal is the way to do this.

i have done this mod on my magnum and i can tell you no bodyshop would touch this task for less the $8k. i would say more like $10k in body work. there is a lot of time in forming the panels. they aren't flat. then welding them in. and then countless hours of ironing out the sheetmetal. then the body work and paint.

it would be wiser just to trade yours in.

here is what i started with, a perfect car with 3700 miles on it.

Wow!

I am very impressed, not only by the outcome, but by the audacity just to do it. Kudos galore, it looks fabulous!
