Performance options/upgrade paths for the HHR SS

I'm really considering an HHR SS. But it's just a tad not fast enough in stock form. I have a Charger SRT8 right now. And before you ask, I'm on a company car reimbursement plan and I have to drive a car 3 model years old or newer. So I'm getting a little close to that time where I have to get a new car.

I'm looking at a HHR SS manual with LSD. I need to know the stock HP, curb weight, 0-60, 1/4 mile, and trap speed numbers. Then, what canned upgrade stage packages exist. Reliability is essential since it's a company car. Here's where I'm coming from. I had a Neon SRT4 before. Somebody made this awesome thread that is a basic upgrade/tuning guide. 3 different levels, and 3 different philosophies for each: click here.

So, what canned kits exist for the HHR SS? What increase in HP, 0-60, 1/4 mile, & trap speed? Does a electronic-actuated cutout exhaust exist yet? Does a cold air intake add a lot of HP?

I appreciate the help. Just looking to see what options are out there. I kind of like driving the "king of the streets" with my srt8. with a very simple tune and a CAI, I ran a 12.97s at 108mph. So I'm hoping to end up with a low 13s car out of this, but just as reliable as the srt8.

Thanks in advance for the help!

have you taken it to the track?

I'm not looking to do that much modding either. Too much customizing/time spent for a company car. I'm looking for a relatively bolt on kit. Also hoping for a quiet but performance exhaust... ie - an electric cutout. I had a turboback exhaust on my srt4 and my god I can't believe I had fillings left in my head. It would be nice to have a button in the glove box to open the cutout when I need to go baby go. Or even a flip top shifter with a red button inside that says "GO BABY GO" LOL!

What track times/traps would a manual car with Stage 1, with a CAI, and a cutout exhaust do?

Bone stock with a little bit of tuning i ran a horrbile 60' but 14.1@102. With more tuning i plan on runnin in the 13s. If you want a quick company car, i would get the trifecta tune, cia downpipe and possibly exhaust. There are a few companies that make electric operated cutouts. I would suggest intercooler piping also as the stock piping sucks. I dont plan on doing anything more than my tune with hp tuners, and maybe a downpipe in the future. You wont run as fast in the 1/4 as your srt8 because of it being rwd instead of wrong wheel drive, but you could easily win in a roll race, carry more cargo, and get better mpg.

nobody has responded yet with the times/traps on a bone stock SS, and with the staged upgrade(s)... Anybody? Assume I know moderately how to drive and 2.2s 60' times...

It's all over the place because of front wheel drive. I can't launch a 60 ft worth a crap. Stock I did a 15.XXX at 99.XX mph. Thats a low 14 mph or high 13. Driver mod. lol

what was your 60ft time? 2.6ish? .1s in your 60ft translates to about .2s off your 1/4 ET.

anybody have any numbers with maybe a staged kit and a CAI?
