Retrofit a 2010 with Storage Compartment and Mechanical Pillar Gauge? !RPD?

Hey guys,

I'm looking at picking up a black 2010 SS here in the next couple of weeks, but I can not stand the look of the RPD.

I'm wondering if anyone has not only added a pillar mount gauge to a 2010, but also removed and retrofitted the RPD equipment with the storage compartment?

I would imagine that it must be possible, but maybe I'm wrong?

I've tried searching for a while for an answer to this and am drawing a blank.

Any input is appreciated! Also keeping my eye out for a 2009 in the configuration I want:

Black on Black, 5-Speed

Thanks!

I seem to recall someone here stating that if you unplug the RPD that the car will not start or run.
Don't like the looks? I wasn't fond of it either. Now it's kind of grown on me. Plus, it's got all those do-dads that you don't get with the single-read pillar gauge.
Maybe you could relocate it. Don't know where, but maybe you could try.

Yea, I was coming across that same bit of info Although I did find one thread on a cobalt forum by someone who seemed to bypass that somehow.

I came across a 2009 that Is exactly what I'm looking for. Hoping it works out.

I just really would like to avoid it having to modify anything quite honestly. I like using the storage compartment for my tollway pass, gps, etc.

In the case the 2009 is a bust i'll still be looking at 2010's so if anyone has more input it is certainly appreciated!

I have a 2010 with the RPD and I rarely use it. Too far away to use while driving. I wish they would have put it on the pillar like the Cobalt SS and left the HHR SS with the storage compartment.
