ss in the snow / winter - soon to be new owner!
This topic comes up every year, so there is lots of info here. My opinion as an experienced driver who skis a lot too. Yes you can make it around without snows, not so much with stock tires. Snows will give you better traction and control. Some 17s will fit with Brembos, it's not just diameter, but distance from the face of the brakes to the backside of the rim. Having snows also saves wear and salty tear on your stock rims and a little more tire time.
Goodyear GT's got me though a pretty good snow storm from Buffalo to Pittsburgh but now I run 16's with a set of inexpensive snows. Runs like a champ but don't expect the same handling on dry. The ESC will kick in if you corner too hard due to the extra roll in the sidewall.
The stock Michelin's are garbage.

thanks for all the input. yes i didnt think of the brake clearance. so if i see the rubber is questionable when the car gets here, i will probably swing for a good rated all season on the 18's. again , we have nothing close to snowbelt great lakes kind of snow! just sloppy crap every now and again. if it is a bad storm... my ass isnt leaving the house anyway!
Just watch for piles of frozen ice or snow as it could damage the nose air dam or IC.

I have run Goodyear GT's and they are fine, I now have BFG Traction T/A's for this winter, they grips great in the wet have not had any snow yet since I had them mounted, welcome to the site
Same here, but my winters have been pretty mild recently. If the weather is bad enough, I'll take my 4WD Avalanche out instead.
