stage 1 kit

I called both the dealers, closest one hasn't ever installed one. Other dealer says installed on cobalt & would take 4 hrs, and that the kit chews up clutches because of too much power. SO looks like I/m still looking for someone with ability to install one. thanks for locating those two dealers. I'm going to keep trying.

If you'd like to take a trip to the central coast, you can try Chevrolet of Watsonville (153 miles). They did mine for $159 with one problem related to the ECM reflash that required a revisit and from my understanding was an issue on the GM tech center side. I pretty sure the tech (he does all the performance upgrade work at the shop) knows his way around the kit now.

Can't have installed one on a Cobalt yet because it is not released for the Cobalt yet. It will be soon but not yet. Plus it does not tear up clutches. He may have been thinking of the Stage 1 & Stage 2 kits for the supercharged Cobalts

I had mine installed at richland chevrolet in shafter ca. thats 20-25 miles north of bakersfield , maybe a 100 from you , they did good work , they have also changed the tranny in mine too. maybe you can set up a actual time, an appointment to have it done and then just wait , maybe just walk to lunch. it will only prolly take a hour because they have done one before, two hrs tops.661 746 4981 ask for david in the service dept tell him mike haworth refered you . they are a small local dealer and they do good work. I wouldnt worry about the clutch unless you were hot lapping at the drag strip. theese cars are temp and altitude senstive, when I go to the coast at sea level and the cool damp air makes it run like a bat out of nowhere, but here in the valley where its really hot makes it not have as much get up and go.

stage i kit

looks like stage 1 kit will be delayed a little, bought my wife an 08 ss, like mine but auto.getting rid of my hhr lt.. her car seems to get as good or better mileage than my manual, and is good on power. I drove an 09 auto it seemed to be down on power compared to our 08's. all 3 ss's.

It's interesting you should say that. Actually I drove both and felt the manual was less positive due to "spool up" with the turbo and less comfortable thru "gear up"( I have a bad back) but, that was specific to my particular issue only. But, down on power, not! I bought the auto and added the stage 1 and could not be happier. I have a couple "Monster Hot Rods" and wonder if they could match this little HHR in the catagories. Also when and if you upgrade a safe ,but not close, choise might be F.H. Dailey Chev in San Leandro. They did mine and Chris is a perfectionist, but it won't be done in two hours.Good luck Mountainman
