On-Star and GM-Tune?
On-Star and GM-Tune?
I am still in the introductory membership to On-Star and just got an e-mail from my car saying that immediate attention is required. It said that On-Star was receiving a diagnostic alert from my car. It told me that my car was having some sort of trouble with the air flow, but I have no CEL and my car is running fine. It also told me to push the On-Star button to learn more.
Is this just a ploy to try to get me on the line so they can sell me something? Everytime I have pushed the button, even one time in error the call turns into a sales call offering me the same "on time only offer" that they have offered at least a dozen times. I have never had an email other than the monthly diagnostic email from my car and they have always been fine.
Could this be related to the GMPP Tune since I would be getting more air flow, or if they monitor parameters I would certainly be outside those with the tune. Any thoughts?
Here is a copy and Paste of the E-Mail Body:
Engine and/or Transmission System [+]
There may be an issue requiring immediate action. Push your blue OnStar button and request a GM Goodwrench Remote Diagnostic.

This system is responsible for making the power necessary to move the vehicle and sending that power to the wheels.
NOTE: If your vehicle's Check Engine/Service Engine Soon light is on or not working properly your vehicle requires service and may not pass your state's emission inspection program (if one exists).
Air Induction System [+]
Air Induction System [—]
Your engine uses fuel and air to create the power to drive the vehicle. To make your vehicle run at peak efficiency, several sensors send information to the engine computer about the air that is flowing into the engine. When you start your vehicle, the diagnostic system runs a check on the sensors, and continues to monitor these sensors to ensure your engine is operating normally. In the event that one of the sensors detects a problem, the engine computer can turn on the Check Engine/Service Engine Soon light. That information can also be sent to your OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics check to alert you that service is needed.
Anyone else have this?
Should I take the car in?
WTF?

I would say go ahead and give them a call and see what they have to say, nothing to lose. Obviously verify that there is no charge for the remote diagnostic and it is included in your subscription.
I get a low tire pressure on the left side. The dealer filled them up but they are back down... I am hoping I don't have a slow leak or anything but I really doubt it because the don't really go below 28 PSI.
I would verify and if it's accurate call your Chevy dealer and tell them and see where they want to go from there.

I finally decided to hit the blue button about 30 minutes ago. I started the call with please do not try to sell me anything. The operator ran a diagnostic and said everything checked out ok, so it seems you are correct. Thanks!

I would bet when they did the upgrade, they had a code set during their work on it, that they did not get reset before returning the car to you. It is residing in the history, and would not set the light. Let the dealer reset the history and I bet your problem will be gone.
