Jack the front end up and observe the sway bar while your lovely assistant turns the steering wheel. It should not traverse.
Since this is an SS after LCA replacement, you need to check the ball joints. Most of the parts books are wrong (INCLUDING GM); they claim that SS is same part as LS/LT WRONG!!!!

When did the noise start?

Unless you bought genuine GM control arms, then you have the wrong parts in there. As Don stated, most parts books are WRONG about the control arms fitting all models.
The SS, (all years 2008-2010), has different sized ball joints than the regular LS and LT HHR's. If you use any off brand control arms, the ball joint will have the incorrect size for the SS.
The wrong ones will physically bolt up but the ball joint shaft is too narrow to tighten up on the SS.
You need to verify which control arms you had installed.

Sway bars and ball joints are all good, I ended up ordering the shaft that was recommended… waste of time because it does NOT fit my SS. any other recommendations?? I’ve been searching for way too long.

No wrong parts installed and nothing is bad. Everything was checked and fits properly . The noise is literally only when I turn the steering wheel, driving or sitting still. I doubt it’ll be anything else but the steering shaft. Which I can’t find anywhere for my car.

We're not going to be able to help you if you refuse to provide part numbers for the control arms. If the non-SS control arms are installed on an SS, it creates the sound you are describing. It also creates an extremely dangerous condition, and the vehicle should not be driven.

The correct control arms are only sometimes available, they are hard to get.

Could be tie rod ends.

Since you've already removed the old shaft, you should be able to tell if the u-joint is sloppy.

Yes. I know the sound you’re describing, i’ve had that problem with my control arms before after getting the wrong ones. I don’t remember the part number but it is the proper fit. thanks 😊
