Sticking clutch
Sticking clutch
I have an 09 SS with 5 speed and I have been having a problem with the clutch pedal sticking part way down when I release it. It doesn't happen all the time, and I have to pull it up with my foot. Anybody else having this problem ?
I have never had that problem. It should (hopefuly) be covered under GM warranty. By the way it might get dangerous if you have to keep fiddling with the peddle.

My 08 has done it for about 18 months. I had it in twice and, of course, they can't replicate the problem - nor can I. The second time I had it in was this past winter when the dealer had it for a week. Said they went out and tried it several times each day, but no luck. It seems to be more a problem after sitting and in cooler weather, but that isn't a hard and fast rule. Mine has only once done this after driving a while, all the rest have been within four disengage/engage cycles with the clutch. The pedal stays on the floor, but the clutch is engaged. Have to put my foot under the clutch pedal and pull it up, then pump the pedal a few times to get it to operate properly. Very frustrating!
Backinblackss, I would like to research warranty information for you. Please, provide me with the VIN of your HHR. You can send this to me at my e-mail address located in my signature or via PM on the forum.
I hope you have a great weekend.

HEY NEWB here!I have had this issue as well, I replaced/upgraded the clutch thinking it was that, then a new slave cylinder and its back again, pedal goes half way down then engages the clutch and it usually sticks on its way back up, very frustrating to drive any help would be great

You might want to check the pedal/bracket/bushings/return spring.
It was a known weak link on some SS's. I recall a few owners had broken springs or plastic bushings.
I also remember that the spring kit was hard to find a couple years ago. Some type of National back order or such.
Might also consider the clutch master cylinder since you didn't replace that yet.
This has been an issue some C5 Corvettes and one fix has been to change/flush the hydraulic clutch fluid. Seems that on the Corvettes the clutch line gets alot of heat from the exhaust and degrades a bit. Some use brake fluid, but GM has an official Hydraulic clutch fluid that has some additional properties in it to reduce squeaks.
I am concerned that someone would go to the trouble and expense of changing the clutch and then the slave cylinder before considering a fault in the pedal mechanism.
There are common sense troubleshooting procedures; like easiest and cheapest first then the expense things.
