Stupid... Drag racing
God forbid you didn`t get it up to triple digits.

It was an older Cobalt SS/SC.
No on the triple digits probably around 75 before I saw the blue and reds, but on take off there was a little tire squeal from both of us. I am sure that's what got their attention. There was very little traffic in the direction we were going, but some behind us.
No radar detector, it wouldn't have helped as they had the pulse type, but the speed wasn't what got them interested, it was the tire squeal.
The reason I posted was to remind everyone that street racing is illegal... My emotion got the better of me when he started to rev his engine and I knew what I had under the hood.... Stupid!
I'm glad I don't live in a state/country that would confiscate my car. I did get arrested many years ago driving through Texas in a T-bird turbo coupe at triple digit speeds. (GT Mustang with radar in front and rear). I thought I was the only one on the road. Your cops are really tough!! and your magistrates are worse. You would think I would learn.
Now for the tough part, I have to go home and tell the wife.

I don't know your local laws but you can usually argue your way to a lesser charge, ticket, violation etc. The key is to do your homework. check the local traffic laws BEFORE you go to court, have documentation etc. If it were me I would try to have it changed to a regular speeding ticket. The cop does not know that you intended to race. all he saw was 2 guys accelerating rapidly. Maybe you like rapid acceleration which by the way is not against the law. The other guy thought it was a race and therefore that is how it appeared to the police. Don't lie either. If the ticket does not indicate your speed then it is up to the courts to prove you were indeed racing. They cannot charge you for something else (in this case speeding) if it was not on the ticket. You have to make the court PROVE you were racing.
Be Smart
Do you homework
Be Prepared
Don't Lie
Don't admit or offer up anything that does not relate to the charge at hand.
Yes I used to work at a Law Firm (no I am not an attorney or am I liable for any bad advice)

I would say you are lucky you are not in So Cal. Some local cities are starting to crush street racer's cars. The great part is they let you come and watch.
Hats off to the Police for being in the right place. Street racing is illegal for a reason.

so they are destroying personal property.
not only that if you owe money on it, it is basically the banks property.
seems like that alone would be illegal.
especially if they can not prove 100% that you were racing.
