Torque Steer vs Traction Control

Because of my mods, the traction control is overpowered in first and slightly in second, but one thing I have noticed is that although there is of course more wheelspin with traction control off, there seems to be less "torque steer" in 2nd and 3rd with it off. Anyone else with or without mods notice this? (By the way, I know there are valid arguments as to whether "torque steer" is the correct term, but you all know what I am talking about I am sure).

Do you have LSD? I haven't really paid attention but I will when I drive it next.

In Competitive Mode I've noticed that while there is a good amount of wheel spin the torque steer is drastically reduced.

I notice a HUGE difference having LSD and not having it. The only time I get torque steer is driving on uneven pavement so the car wants to follow the groves, but my buddy having a RWD says the same thing can happen to him, its just more prominent in FWD.

You don't notice any even under hard acceleration? I've had a Z28 with about 320hp and I really didn't notice much with the RWD. Even with AWD I have noticed the front end lifting and it pulling to the left under hard acceleration.

On mine I have a little torque steer but with the auto and less HP in 1st and 2nd it is not as noticable.

I have not really play with the Comp mode much. Did not really notice much but I need to play a little more.

Now on the 5 speed with the LSD it would pull a litte left and right fighting for traction on a uneven road. On a smooth road it was dead straight.

the comp mode on the Auto what improvments or changes have you guys noticed and I should look for.

I don't have LSD...on a flat two lane while pulling out to pass..petal level..if I don't have a tight grip it willl try to go back right even though I'm steering left..other times it will go back and forth( THOUGH STEER INPUT HAS A LOT TO DO WITH THIS)..you can feel the loas shift left to right looking for traction...TC on..havn't really tried it full bore TC off...

If it's a nice smooth road it wont pull at any direction but if there's a little bump or warping in the road, then it will pull to whatever direction.

So it's not like I can drive straight line without my hands on my wheel but doesn't take much effort to keep it ion a straight line in hard acceleration.

Unlike my old 92 Z24 which I had to white knuckle the steering wheel with fast acceleration, and it can't nearly go as fast as my SS.

I did try to pull out behind a guy making a left turn the other day and mashed the gas. The wheel whiped one way and the tnhe I cut it back to the other like a video game.

I went where I was aiming but I had to have a grip till the traction control kicked in. At least GM did like on my GTP and not kick it in too soon. I like to kick it if needed once in a whlile.

A couple of insights.

Competitive mode is SES without traction control so you will get wheel spin when Comp. mode is enabled.

Torque steer is a fact of life with front wheel drive. It varies in severity with road surface, ride movement, steering angle and engine torque output. A limited slip tends to make it worse at certain times, but SSes need a limited slip.

If you're taking a fairly sharp turn and nail it when the wheels are turned, better be holding that steering wheel with both hands, it'll torque steer for sure and when the turbo spools up, it'll torque-steer like a *****.
