Towing
Anyone do any towing with their SS ? |
Yes with no issues, Manual Trans, Blueox tow plate and bar, #8 fuse disconnect.

You mean , like tow a boat or camp trailer? There are tow hitches available, you might need to cut that beautiful smooth rear bumper. Here a suggestion and a part number for a Drawtite hitch just for the SS https://www.etrailer.com/question-4309.html |
Sorry, thought you meant tow the HHR, I have a Curt hitch for the Bike rack.

From the 2010 Owners Manual:
SS Package If the vehicle has the SS package, it is neither designed nor intended to tow a trailer. |
Awe, all that HP and torque, and no towing!! I just use my Curt hitch for a bike rack , I don’t tow trailers with Oldblue. |
Depends on what you want to Tow.
If you can keep the trailer Gross Weight to approx.900lbs or less then you should not have a problem under most conditions. Maybe a long pull up a fairly steep grade would generate a rise in temps but you could monitor that. Gross weight tow rating for the 2LT with a 2.4L is 1000lbs. gross, and that would be everything in or on the HHR over the driver and full fuel tank. Even the hitch and ball mount count. You would have the advantage of much more Torque and Hp. along with Much Better Brakes. Personally I like the Curt Hitches best. I would also review your past Cooling System maintenance based on time and mileage to see if you should do a service before you start towing. As Fireman George said .. It's your choice. Silverfox |
Light towing, small trailer. just small runs around local area. I see I may have to notch the rear bumper cover
|
I didn’t want you to be surprised, if you ordered it and then found out the notch is required. |
Moved the posts about big rigs to the lounge.
