Tuners tune detuned HP back into auto?

How long before tuners figure out how to tune the detuned 25hp back into the engine on the SS models equipped with automatic transmission? :D

Don't forget though, there is more to it than cranking up the boost like we did with the turbo Buicks, there is now Torque management, the ECM is constantly actually calculating how much torque is made, and also there is Variable Valve Timing to fine tune economy, emissions, and torque, and there is also transmission shift controls for slip, overlap, firmness, AND as the Onstar monthly performance report I am sent on my Trailblazer SS shows, big brother watching you!

Shouldnt be to much longer H/P Tuners is already on the case...They have my tune from my HHR/SS standard tranny....They said like 3 weeks or so...I'm staying on top of it...My tuner is also staying on this issue

hey GCSD, was your HPT able to read the tune?

Of course

I postulated the same thing the day they announced the automatic would be 25 HP less. Then, who the first one with the blown trany that GM denies coverage on since they went the retuning, regaining of the 25HP route?
It will be interesting to see exactly how the automatics put up with the increase horse power that we know fanatics are going to put back in the cars.

The 25 hP retune is there for a reason, we suspect.

The auto HHR SS is resitricted to 235 HP in 1st and 2nd gears only. In 3rd and 4th it makes 250 HP.

This is a very sophisticated, thoroughly engineered, developed, and tested machine. Anyone would be foolish indeed to mess with any part of the drivetrain, including the exhaust system.

Is this for sure?

As for the trans, I think there are kits out for the 4T45E that can be installed that will strengthen it to tolerate the full tuned torque and hp. But the re-tune plus a transmission workover would be getting into some bills.

Where is this written?

Complete data on the 2.0 turbomotor can be found in this forum, P.8, a post by c2vette on 01-01-2008, entitled "GM Technical Data on HHR SS".

Be sure to read the fine print and the sub notes, also check out the HP and Torque curves.
