Under hood insulation?

I recently bought a 2008 SS with 68K miles from the original owner who is one of my best friend’s father. It is in excellent condition and completely stock. Have service receipts since new, yada, yada. What is odd to me is there is no under hood insulation like on my 2008 HHR LT2. Were they not installed on the SS’s?
He is 80 and he bought it new, never hit, all original body panels, etc. He swears it is as he got it.
Any opinions? TIA

I don't think the SS had that insulation

No insulation on the SS. I think the GM logic was it was keeping too much heat in the engine bay. Especially around that heat furnace thing (aka, the turbo)

None on mine.

:welcomewagon: to the forums!

Welcome to the site, apparently it’s the way GM built that SS if yours

X2 agree with the Orange man...it was because of the excessive heat from the engine. No insulation on SS engine hood. It is easy to clean the under part of the hood too.

Didn’t I mangle your handle a few years ago, FMG . I’m sure it’s just a simple error, nothing derogatory or malicious.
