Update On Blackout...

so far,the car is running fine. however,i really can't test this theory till i drive it some more. i reset the ecm by disconnecting the battery. last night me and the family went out for dinner(3-4 miles from the house and about 5-6 on the way back) and no CEL. this morning i went to work my p/t job and it's 17 miles one way. no problems. boosted to 15psi. drove it with and without cc. wish me luck

Too bad the car made a bad first impression but it's working like it should now. Sounds like no one was trying to pull one over on you after all. Enjoy it and try not to drive waiting for something to go wrong...

Keep us updated. From much past experience, the PCM can do some weird things sometimes.

^^^^you are right. still doing it,but no CEL. does the car have some type of overboost or rev limiter proctection. i guess i'm hittng the rev limiter??? the car won't boost unless i cut it off and restart it.

Yes, the rev limiter is at 6300. All material states it's 'soft' and non-obtrusive but I haven't hit it myself so I don't know.

Do you mean you have no boost at all?

i can feel it "jerk" when this problem happens. then it won't boost. needle will go to 0 and that's it. cut the car off and start it,it boost again. NO CEL.

That's definitely weird. Will the boost drop off while your in it? At idle? Cruising? or a combination of all?

Sounds like the electronic boost controller has a problem.

I had this problem in my 02 GTI. Turned out the Diverter valve had a crack and was leaking boost and would throw it into "limp mode". If I restarted the car it would run fine til I ran it hard again.
