If it did'nt serve a good purpose, then why would they install it.
That mystery part must do what the engineers wanted it to do, or it would'nt be there.
If it's not causing a problem....then?
If you're still curious, then take the "Mystery part" off, and see what happens, then get back to us.
Now, as to resizing danglers. Anyone find something that really works, PM me pronto.

You may have skipped a good deal of the commentary in this thread... including my original post. Aside from the "ignorance is bliss" approach you seem to be suggesting, there is indeed a problem... a significant one, and the presence of an open vacuum line is, on its face, rather odd. In the good ole' days, the term we used an open vacuum line was "leak." Leaks are generally not good. Hence the question... what is it supposed to do? Is it really supposed to be open?

As for taking it off, maybe you can help me understand how this might help. Taking it off would give me 3 "leaks," one of which I already KNOW would be a bad one. I'm looking for a more sophisticated approach than 1) "ignorance is bliss," and 2) "take it apart and see what's in it."

/is there a full moon?

Has anyone checked to see if this is the same on the other LNF platforms? Perhaps a broader inquiry might reel in someone from GM Powertrain.

Someone has suggested that this mystery part actually needs 2 reference boost values from the K04 twin scroll, and so the one that's currentl vented to atnosphere actually goes to a second line on the turbo. Anyone able to verify this on the HHR turbo? I have a stock photo of a Sol/Sky motor, and it does almost appear to be like this, but the pics is too small, and gets too grainy when bumping up the resolution to be deterministic???

Hey XXL, Just rip that freaking engine out and toss a LS7 or LS3 and a 9 inch rear in that bad boy and show us how to do it...

You know you want to. :)

I sure hope with all of these responses you have got your issue resolved. I think "Moon" was just trying to help though. Try not to be too hard on em.
