for?

My point is that those 2 systems do not hook up directly to the radiator. Again, the difference, between LS/LT radiator and SS radiator, is the thickness(cores).

So the coolant goes where? and the heat from the oil goes where?

The heat from the oil is transferred to the block which is cooled by the RADIATOR.
The hot coolant from the turbo is returned to the coolant flow to the RADIATOR.

There is more heat to dissipate from the turbo.

Need more highlighter!

But, yeah the oil cooler coolant passages got clogged on mine and eventually killed the motor. Thanks for reminding me...

I’ll weigh in on this since I swapped radiators in both the SS and LT before. They are for sure the exact same figment, They will go back and forth between vehicles. I haven’t read through all the comments yet but I’m guessing that was also the consensus you came up with. I can confirm they physically fit from experience.

both weigh the same, same thickness, single row, I haven’t measurered the capacity but I will try to soon. I have a factory SS and a standard radiator in my garage. I have a leftover SS from switching to the Wizard cooling aftermarket radiator, which also fits both SS and standard radiators. Wizard cooling is a double row.

? How can they be the same when the GM parts places lists 2 different numbers ?
They both may physically "look" the same and both bolt up to either car but it appears there is a difference.
Yes. Read the comments.

When I get a chance I’ll take measurements of thickness and measure the amount of coolant between the SS and the stock radiators since I have them both out of the vehicles. The aftermarket radiators do sell one part number for both vehicles. I weighed the SS radiator when it was pulled and it was just under 7pounds. The Wizard radiator was 17lb and was a double row of larger tubes. I was shocked that it would even fit in the space but it dropped right in. The Wizard was also designed for any version of the hhr.

On the stock versus the SS, I can fill both with water and pour them out in a gallon bucket to measure the amount of fluid. They look exactly alike however, I suppose that it’s possible one has slightly larger tubes but it’s sure not apparent at first glance.

The cooling system capacity is different, 9.2 qt for SS; 7.4 - 8.7 for LS/LT. Could be what's in the turbo and lines to/from it, though.

Is it possible that LS/LT "fits" in an SS so you were sold something different than the factory installed?
