Winter wiper blades

I put this in the SS section as our factory blades are different than the others, at least mine are.... My Fall Limited Edition and my wife's LT have a 1 piece solid blade with no joints, but the one on my SS is something I have never seen before. The housing is 3 pieces with 2 articulating joints that freeze up with ice. I had a great big area in the middle of my viewing area that wasn't being touched by the factory blades. After reaching out the window at every stop to do the wiper blade "break the ice off" routine, I decided to get some better blades.

Stopped by my local Advance auto and picked up a pair of the Bosch ICONs

418A Drivers side
418B Passengers side

about $18 bucks each.
They are similar to what my other HHRs have and work great
What a difference!!

Does anyone with an SS have different blades?

I have used the ICON Bosch, and they work great, but they are expensive. Stay away from the rubber boot covered ones, as they tend to float at higher speeds and not clean the window well. They catch too much air on a stand up windshield like a HHR or Tahoe.

Hmmm, I didn't notice this difference before, as casual glances at them made me think they were a 1 piece arrangement. Since I don't have to worry about ice anymore , I will go with a silicone blade when these die. Sun and ozone really kill the rubber blades quick down here, but the silicone blades I put on my wifes car 1 1/2 years ago still clean fine with an occasional cleaning.

I have used the ICON's for many years on other vehicles. I have a set for the HHR, but so far the factory ones still work great. The ICON's will probably be no good when I do install them.

I used the ICON's once and just never had any luck with them. I cleaned the glas and all but they just did not do a very good job for me.

I just put on the ANCO wipers of a similar style and so far they are working better. I will see how long they hold up.
