08 shifter change to 09

After seeing pictures of the 09 I wanted that shifter with the added bin on the side and the leather boot. While looking I found an 09 SS shifter and purchased it, and then was a little confused on how to change it so I figure I would help any one else who is wanting to do this.

Begin by removing the chrome, and the orignal shifter

Then remove the window switch cover by just giving it a nice tug its held in by two clips, and locate two bolts that holds the bezel down and unbolt it with a 9/32 socket and then pull it off there are three clips holding it on.

And unplug the windows and place out of the way.

Then remove the black and white shifter parts

Replace with the new parts and you get this.

That looks great. How did you get the plates over the knob?

You take the knob off. you just gently pry off the leather boot, and remove the screw with an allen wrench.

Very cool. I've been thinking about that upgrade because it's right where I put the remote for my XM radio.
