Casual HHR dress code. "Removed Bowtie"
I got bored so I decided to remove the ugly bowtie from the front.
Here it is as of now, just need to paint white.
First I filled in the back of the bowtie with fiberglass resin and matt so that when I removed the part of the grill this will leave an almost perfect shape of the grill.
I then used duct tape on the edges to build up the top and bottom edges where te bowtie was so that it will match the rest of the bars.
Fiberglass done.
Illuminated bowtie?
Should I just stop here and leave the duct tape on?
Now for the bondo.
Glazing putty.
Sanded.
Back side.
Primered.

Tastefully done, I like the clean, sano look you achieved. I love fiberglass. My dash looks like your grill, minus the primer. One of these days I'll send it and a few other parts off to the painters for a professional paint since I've not had the best of luck with rattle cans.
