RUDEINC, Thank for the great clear info. By the way how often you drain and fill your HHR ATF.

Here is a picture showing the transmission fill plug on my 2006 HHR LT (2.4L) for reference. The original picture is from a Cobalt and does not accurately show how it is for our HHRs.

That’s because the article was from a Cobalt site.

did you use a wrench?, let me know, because mine is HHR 2006 2.4 5-speed manual transmission and that cap is under the hose of the thermostat and is super hard to unscrew with the fingers, BUT.. I saw another plug beside that plug is similar to the check level and drain plug, so I don't know if that plug is for filling the transmission fluid... just need to figure out.
Thanks in advanced

Tomas, please read the first part of post #10 and look at the picture in post #12. 8mm hex key, also available as a hex socket, might be what you need.

There is an updated recommendation for the ATF now Dexron VI is preferred.

I did thanks today I did but the low plug Drain don't want loose, is to tight space with the frame, I ordered inamazon hex 8 mm low profile.

and

to came off the drain plug because with 8 mm Allen Hex , it almost eat the the internal teeth of the plug, so I need the low profile to get a better result with the tight space plus but need to replace that plug now, so and is almost winter in Canada. tic tac tic tac again winter....

Thanks so much

that is the same for my car post#12, but today I took off with 3/8 extension, but the drain plug was stuck, very tight space.
