Chrome Console Shifter Ring - Lifting Fix
Hi Folks, I think I have solved the problem of the chrome console shifter trim ring lifting up. While I had my console apart, I pondered the issue of that chrome constanly popping up and loose. I added a small dab of common window caulk to the serrated face of each of the four legs under the chrome ring. Take the ring off, flip it over, and you'll see four legs or posts that are the "snapping in" mechanism holding the ring onto the console. Two in the front, two in the back, and the serrated faces are aligned front and rear. Just a tiny dab of caulk (from Lowe's, etc) will hold it. This caulk, unlike glue, will pop loose if you pull on it. However, after a week of driving, it hasn't loosened at all. I think it may be the ticket. :-) God Bless, Marc

I would have to think that with the plyability of caulk, this would also serve to mute some of the inherent interior rattles that we have all become accustomed to owning GM vehicles. It seems to be one of their black trademarks.
I personally have owned many GM vehicles and tune the rattles out when I don't have time to track them down, but they sometimes still bother me.
I wonder how this would work on the notorious HHR interior rattle between the main console and the shifter console on the passenger side?
