My question: the ebay motors don't come with that gear. Is anyone aware of the success rate in removing/installing it onto the new motor?
See post #6.

Thanks Blue - but after reading don's experience and having read post #6 here, I'm leaning towards buying the actuator (already found the part number in the "Part Number" sticky note) rather than spending so much time in repairing the present faulty actuator.

Thanks guys!

It's a far better choice you've made! Not only less work, but less possibility of damaged parts and delays ordering more!

Quick update: yippeeeee, all my doors lock and unlock now! I used a weed-puller to get those panel-fixtures loose (NOT easy), and GMPartsDirect.com provided the part for something like $120. Thanks to all for this tutorial! Made the job possible at home.

(anyone want a broken Right Rear door lock actuator to rebuild? ...will send for cost of shipping)

maybe i'll use the old lock assy as a learning device and try the self-repair process described above...

The small gear is a tight press fit. I did not wish to possibly damage it with its removal from the old motor OR damage the gear upon installation on the new motor or possibly damaging the new motor during installation of the gear. That is why I went the route I did in buying the complete motor/gear assembly. Sometimes my hands have a way of destroying small parts.
I cannot find a motor with the gear attached. Can someone tell me if the gear can be removed from old motor a placed on new motor? Thanks JohnT
