How To Change 2008 2.2L Knock Sensor
Like some other owners, I was getting sporadic "Knock Sensor Related" DTCs.
Bought a replacement from dealer ($36 w/CA Sales Tax - "same day special order"). Here is how I did the changeout. (Apologies beforehand for any picture quality issues - this is the first time I've posted with pix. In particular, #7 is quite fuzzy and the note on it is in pretty small type.) TWO CAUTIONS: (1) BE SURE TO CHECK FOR THE OLD BOLT RETAINING O-RING (see PIC #7 & 8) (2) DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY IS *** AN ABSOLUTE MUST ** FOR THIS R&R!!! FAILURE TO DO SO COULD RESULT IN EXPLOSION/FIRE AND/OR SERIOUS DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE AND/OR TOOL BEING USED AND/OR SERIOUS BURNS TO YOUR BODY!!! From personal experience, I saw the third degree burns a friend suffered when his nice stainless steel Seiko watch band shorted Battery Positive to Negative/Ground/Chassis. NOT PLEASANT. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY BEFORE STARTING THIS R&R. The easiest place to remove the negative battery connection is at the battery back under the cargo area floor (10mm socket). https://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/fil...of2480x638.jpg https://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/fil...of2481x600.jpg https://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/fil...f12640x726.jpg https://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/fil...f12529x600.jpg https://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/fil...f12529x600.jpg https://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/fil...f12600x450.jpg https://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/fil...f12600x450.jpg https://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/fil...f12600x517.jpg https://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/fil...f12600x450.jpg https://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/fil...f12600x450.jpg |
