How do you replace the rear window wiper blade?
In the Owners manual, it says to take off the protective plastic piece to gain access to the wiper blade.
What piece comes off and how? The piece near the end of the blade or the thicker other end? I tried fooling around with it, but am too scared to force and break something. Never had a vehicle with a rear wiper blade or a plastic piece covering it. Thanks. |
Where the wiper pivots at the thick end, the plastic comes straight off. you can pivot the wiper blade straight out.
|
I'll give it a shot tomorrow.
Thank you! |
I'm a little confused...can you just replace the blade with a refill, or do I need to buy an entirely new wiper? It would be much cheaper if I can get a refill for it, but I'm not quite sure how to get it off...

GM services this as a blade assembly only-#22709463,current list price is $26.66 plus tax. There may be an aftermarket piece available now with a replaceable insert.

Dang! For that price, I don't need to see out my back window that great anyways!

It only rained for a few days--and still didn't miss the rear wiper. But I know some of you folks need it. @ |

Do what I did... pull the wiper back enough to hear a sickening 'crack' and plastic parts flying everywhere. And... then try and find a used rear wiper from among club members.
Gotta love those people who did a rear wiper delete and kept the wiper arm assembly!!:thumb: |
Needed a rear. At Advance Auto Parts I found a Trico # 45-245 single insert @ $3.44 plus tax. Long enough to make two! Final cost = $1.72 ea.
Only tool needed is a sharp diagonal cutter to cut to length. |
that is wut i did with mine just buy a cheap refill and cut to length
|
That's a good idea! If you get a 22" refill, that would be perfect for two!

Bought one at Auto Value yesterday for $14 that looks identical to the original. It went on really easy too. You have to take off a little plastic cover at the base of the wiper arm first, then pull the arm out away from the windshield. There was directions with it that made it easy. Now the water is actually wiped off the window instead of smeared across it!
