Thanks, I will try to solve the problem

Hi all, while I have not yet run into this problem, I noticed people have been asking for pictures of the LiftGate Release Lever. Since this site has been a quite literal godsend, I am hoping the following helps others who, like me, are visual. As such, I recently removed my LiftGate panel to install a rearview camera, and remembered to snap some pics. Notably, the red arrow points to the LiftGate Release Lever:

Here's the LiftGate Release Lever sans the panel:

Here's the LiftGate Release Lever with an overlay of the panel from the Owner's Manual:

And finally, here's a side view of the LiftGate Release Lever:

Hope this helps!

P.s. and aside, once I finish my current mods list, I plan to investigate installing a keyed lock, as others have mentioned. Not really sure it is possible, as the unlock mechanism appears to rely upon an electric relay (as opposed to a mechanical one). Either way, I will definitely provide an update once I've done some investigation. Though, it will be a couple of weeks out at the earliest.

Great write-up and good shots of the inner workings.

Being that the pictures are not hosted here in the Gallery, they too will disappear like the ones in the original post in this thread. If you can upload them to your Gallery that would be great.

Hi guys
Problem solved
The lock wiring rotted, was forced to restore the electrical contact
As I understood - the problem is typical, occurs often
Just drove the car to the electricians, 2 hours of work and 34 dollars of money

Thanks for the pictures. Mrs. left the lights on and now battery is dead so ideally I would like to get the gate open for easier access to the battery but was struggling with the gate release from the owners manual, the pics should help

You can unlock it when the jumper cables are attached (under the hood) correctly.

Great pics/writeup, Thanks! Hindsight, but would have been nice to have your red arrow point at where/what the screwdriver blade should be pushing on.

That round thingy, there. Push on it until the gate pops open.

The pics and narration seem to be quite clear on what to do.

Closing this thread, as it has pretty much run it's course.
