Installing running boards from a woman's viewpoint!

Well I am halfway done getting my running boards on.... ran out of daylight and bugs are eating me alive!!

Drivers side is on! I can't believe I did it by myself. It really was VERY easy after I figured out what each bolt was called.

This is after I pulled off the rocker panel, I still had to take out the clips under the doors.

This is all the tools and parts (save for the boards themselves) I used.

These are the brackets that the running boards sit on.

This is all 3 brackets.

End results!!! Running board just slides on and there are 3 bolts on the under side that slide into the brackets and tighten down.

The written instructions are very easy to follow (good pictures). I know it took me about 4 hours just to do one side but I am just learning to work on my car, I had to figure out the different bolts, so I was very slow. Tommorrow I will get the other one on and it should go much faster now that I know what I am doing!

YES I KNOW the car is dirty!!!!! It will get a bath when I am done working on it.

And they say that:
1) Women can't do a man's job.
2) Nurses are only good for Nursing.
Wrong, wrong.
Good work, when you are finished getting the second bd on,
and washing your Twin, come over and wash mine.

Good JOB.

Great Job and the one question I have for you is this, If you ever buy a Vehicle again would you purchase it with or with out the running Boards.
I think its great what you are doing my self I dont think I could do it, I rather purchase it with the Running Boards on the vehicles but then again I am doing things with My HHr that I would have never done with any of my Vehicles that I have owned in the past. Great Job and You Go Girl.

Next car that needs running boards will come with them! When I bought this one I didn't know about running boards.

I really didn't mind putting them on but having the factory do it would have been easier. Cost wise I think this way was cheaper because I got them at cost (my brother works parts at a chevy dealership here in Fla.)

Right on Theresa!!! Way to go girl.

My HHR came w/o the boards and I had the dealer put them on...but that was when I was leery of doing stuff myself. I admire you taking the bull by the horns and tackling them yourself.

As you know, I do almost all my mods myself now and it truly gives you a sense of accomplishment when the job is done. My boyfriend offers to help me whenever I tackle something new and I told him, I want to try and do this on my own. If I run into a problem, I'll let you know and he has come to appreciate the big grin on my face when I'm able to do it without his help.

Keep up the good work...and a great how to by the way.

Is it wrong of me to think I can do this myself now, just because a woman did it?

I caught myself thinking, "well if SHE can do it"...

Im so ashamed. Maybe I should go on a world apology tour

great job BTW...maybe you can give me a quick tutorial when I make it to Florida in a few weeks!
