replace timing chain gasket
Can't ever find what I need in the search threads parts so... I have to change the timing cover gasket as it's leaking bad, better after I tighten it a bit but have to fix it bottom line. Question is... do you have to remove the front motor mount to take / have room to get
the cover off? If not it will make for a faster job. Now when replacing the cover do you need to prime the oil pump inside the cover... if so how? Take it apart and pack the gears with grease etc.? OR.... Do you need to drain the oil in the pan when starting or is the oil below the lower edge of the timing cover? I've looking for days trying to fine a video on replacing the timing cover gasket / oil pump AND all the pictures of this work is with the engine out! Would you use sealant on the outside of the gasket around the bottom of the cover for sure??? Thanks for the help and notes to any short cuts.... Thanks JC |
It isn’t a must to remove the upper engine mount.
No you don’t need to drain the oil or prime tge oil pump I would not use RTV for this application |
DO NOT USE A FELPRO GASKET/SEAL!
