shift inter-lock repair/delete
#11
yea, some of us have a warranty that is as long gone as the shifter's original design. 124k miles, 5 model years....nope...
pretty sad when a manufacturer knows they made a mistake and takes the time to print the owner's manual to tell the buyers how to get around the manufacturer's mistake instead of just recalling it or making it right.
"instead of fixing the shifter design, lets just re-tool the steering wheel column shroud and tell our customers how they can un-strand themselves and bring the car to our dealers and let us replace it...it's cheaper that way"
remember that next time you go consider buying a GM product off the lot/showroom floor. remember how they think...business-wise.

yea, I read that the switch does energize a solenoid...I dont think I want to find out "down the road" that something's gonna burn out and leave me stranded.
I gotta find out how to simply disable the darn shift inter-lock so I dont have to deal with replacing the darn shifter because of some qwappy safety feature that 'wears out'.

Hi I just dug through my shifter console and that micro-switch does allow you to take the key out when engaged. As for that little shaft that was being talked about, it needs to be there to push the micro-switch up to be able to take out the key, properly working gear shifter in all gears with inter-locks, and shifter button working properly as well. You just need to push the shaft back into place underneath the micro-switch and VOALA!!!!! Mine is working like new again. Just saved myself $$500!!!
