Smoothie Door Lock Knob install

Smoothie Installation

1. Grab OEM lock knobs with pliers. (If you want to save the OEM’s, use something to protect them.) Twist them to break the seal, they are not threaded, and pull off.

2. Test fit the Smoothie Lock Knobs. (I feel the rods do not need to be cut but this is merely personal preference.
a. Uncut rods:

3. Use a clear adhesive on the rod and in the lock knob.
a. I recommend this product.

4. Let dry for a few hours and you’re good to go!

Hope this helps!

Yes, there is no need to pull the door panel for this mod.

BTW, these can be purchased at www.thehhrstore.com ;)

I took about a quarter inch of rod off mine and when locked, mine sit flush with the door panel.

Many have done that, it all comes done to personal preference. That's why I usually recomend letting the new knob sit on the rod for a few day before gluing it in place. That way you know what works best for you.:thumb:

I found that just switching them out was enough to stop the elbow jabbing. But everyone is different and that's great!

Mine sit a bit taller than the ones shown in the pics, but are much better than the stock ones.

I'm still debating whether to cut a bit off of the rod or not. If I do, I'll probably only take 1/8" off.

One of them is fairly tight and "chirps" when the doors unlock.

Mine are the same way, much better than stock though still. I'll probably pick up a 2nd pair in case I can't pull them off without wrecking them when I go to cut my rod. If they come off cleanly then they can go to the back doors.

I actually did mine at stoplights on my way to the office ;)
