Turn Signal Canceling Failure Fix: Lots of Pics
#81
Sure glad I bought a replacement before I took the old one out. The little nub on the white plastic piece that touches the spring and extends down into the cam was broken.
Thanks to all that helped - wasn't too bad a job, about 30 minutes from start to finish.

I just replaced my switch because it would not stay when turning. But now it will not cancel! The old switch was definitely bad, as I had to hold the turn signal down when turning.
The "new" switch is brand new. It will hold the turn signal but at the end of the turn it will not return the lever t its place. So I was figuring that the cam on the steering column must be broken. Is there some way to tell if it is the cam or the switch? Did I get a bad switch?
And if it is the cam, how can you replace that?
Anyone have any exploded views of the steering column?
Thanks for any help.

Fantastic! Thanks very much!
The cams on the steering column that cancel the turn signals are probably within the assembly of #6, wouldn't you think?
I will have to remove the switch and look down towards the steering column. I can't believe they would use something that would break off. But then....
Or could I have a defective new switch?

A defective switch, or the incorrect switch could be the issue. It's the white part in the switch that extends when the switch is activated, and it retracts when it hits the "cam". So check that white component in the switch.

Are you double sure that it is snapped into place correctly?
Maybe pull the switch and ensure that the white trigger piece pops out when the switch is activated. You should be able to see the piece that flips the switch off with the switch removed.
