One obscure cause of mystery clunks is that early Monroe replacement complete struts had the incorrect springs on them. If your car has had the struts ever replaced that can be a suspect.

I have put new struts on it. i have rebuilt the front end except for the control arms. When i took off the old arms one side the rubber was completely hardened. I put it in a vice where it would mount and it clunked. I believe the new arms will help alot. Thanks for the reply.

Did you replace the sway bar bushings? Make sure the bumper cover is not the culprit.
The LCA bushing usually just disintegrate not harden.

Yes i took care of it all. I did go for a drive after the control arms were done. i think i found the culprit. I reached up under and grab the CV joint. rocked it back and forth. It is very noisy and clunky. Are these hard to change out?

Thanks, they are on the way. I'll take my time and do it right. I don't have the tool to pop them out. I do have a good flat pry bar. I'll check if I run into trouble.

I use a flat pry bar, turn the cv axle a bit and keep trying , the clip lets go easier if the gap is pointing straight down, it’s tedious like I said

Boy my bad on the clunk. It was on the driver side of the car. I forgot to torque the sway bar rod. Once i did that the car is quiet now. The entire front end and back end have been redone and it rides smooth with now roll and even ride. It tracks very straight and brakes straight. I'm please with my job. Thanks for all the advice.
