New owner in Kearney, NE

Hello, I'm Aaron, from Kearney, Ne, and I own an HHR.

Now that the obvious is out of the way: Just bought an orange 06 LT 3 weeks ago in northern Nebraska. Bought it with 64,000 Miles. It has a salvage title, but that didn't bother me too much. I work in the hot rod/restoration business and everything seemed to check out.

Will be spending most of my time on these boards looking in the mods both exterior and interior, and looking in the for sale/wanted section as first on the list will be swapping out the light colored interior for a darker interior.

In the 3 weeks since I have owned this I have replaced the windshield, gave the interior a much needed thorough cleaning, and have a stubby antenna on the way (not too attracted to the long antenna as I look through the sun roof. Looking to eventually give this a two tone color scheme much like this one: http://s1.aecdn.com/images/news/gall...unveiled_1.jpg

WELCOME from Michigan

I am a retired GM (Buick) skilled tradesman, hot-rodder and restorer and miss the work.
(Actually we never retire do we?)

I love my HHR Panel, 90,000 miles and not a problem since I have owned it, except for that shopping cart
that slammed into the door!

What does it mean to have a salvaged title?

What does it mean to have a salvaged title?

Usually a total by an insurance company. A person buys it, fixes it then retitles it.

Thanks and fireman is correct. Not sure if it's industry/nation wide standard but I believe here in Nebraska a salvage title is issued when the estimated cost of repair meets or exceeds 75% of the total value of the vehicle. Was told in body school, however, that technically a salvage title is to be issued when any original panel on the vehicle has to be replaced.

Thought that was rather interesting. If that logic is true I suppose salvage titles should be issued for any owner looking to mod their vehicle with any aftermarket body part (i.e. cowl hoods).
