New to site! Great site!

Hey everyone!
New owner,as of Saturday. 2006 gray hhr. Happened to your forum as I was trying to troubleshoot left speakers not working.

Great info and experience here. Read many many threads regarding my problem. I tore out my stereo, chased wires, swapped speakers around, and confirmed that the speakers were not the issue.

Let me say, that when I bought the car it was raining.....
Yup!
Today all speakers work just fine.. What the @&$??

Anyway, has anyone found the root of this issue?

Now I gotta work on that remote.....

Welcome to the site

In most cases it's the speaker it's self. They tend to get intermittent before they fail all together.

They may be working now just because you handle them an moved them around.

I have found that I can use a test light at the speaker connector and with the volume turned up on the radio the bulb in the test light will flicker with the music.

As long as the test light flickers the wiring and radio output are good indicating a bad speaker.

to the forum!

And X2 to Lucky's supposition of a bad speaker, the OEM speakers aren't the stoutest things ever installed by GM.

if you're gonna change them out , note the ohm readings of the speakers.

Yes, the front speakers are 4 ohm and the rears are 8 ohm. In my '06 I was very careful to make sure I put the right ohm speakers in the right holes. Then a few months later wallyworld had a set of 4 new 6.5" coaxial speakers on sale and I bought them and put them in.

They are all 8 ohm.

That's been over a year now and the stock stereo is still pumping out tunes no problems.
