This is THE PLACE for HHR wisdom..Thanks for keeping the love. I have been on here for 7-8 years absorbing the tech..GREAT.
I am on Saturn boards very similar, I was last GM of Saturn (many other brands previous), My new cars get serviced for oil..and suspension stuff. I build Hot Rods and cycles. On Studebaker boards incredible resource..and friendly folks. Jaguar..a little different. No one touches my Hot rods..and I will be laying under it in the shop..HHR will ONLY go to one of my old Techs I had trained in Spring Hill..as master.tech.
These keep me busy enough..
Here are my Toys I built..(others also but trimmed the flock)..also trimming the bikes..down to 2.. Yes..age is just a number..

Thanks for accurate and IN DEPTH forum.. We love that HHR..wife had a Vibe before (totaled by red light runner) also fine car. She loved all her Saturns.. Just found my son a 1989 SL2..leather..in Perfect shape 62,000 miles from some 85 year old folks..Nice people guy still drives and sharp.
Oh yeah..the Stude is all "modern" 383/ 700R..discs/AC..Links and bagged back..Adjustable Torsion bars front..much other stuff...and..(hopefully) a blown U Joint. Fixed Wife's HHR first..I am not a fool :)
The Jag is known as me..The Heretic..as I restored E Types and XK..but this one was for me forever.. Old C/Mod raced until 1969..I got it..not like this..in 1973. Built ground up..BUT..at 2300lbs..with 375Bhp and 400Lbs torque it is a Whips and Chains car..The Stude is long distance cruiser..
Oh yeah..the Jag was converted to SBC in 1956..I restored it that way. 350 old style..camel humps (worked) set back so it is essenitially a mid engined car..about 30" behind front wheels. Jag motors are great. I rebuilt a 4.2 ..Trip Webers..Jag E racing cams..and Muncie box (common mod)..but no more E types..too many and all the cars shop rot Sold it and bought the Stude project.

Again..GREAT Site..and I see the depth and intelligence that honors you all..

I was a traveling guitar player for years..cars are my hobby. I came to Tucson as winter tours are not my thing..and Tucson allowed me to ignore the calls to take the Chicago..Detroit..Buffalo in winter gigs..!

So..now back to the Stude Driveshaft..
Oh yeah.. why Jaguar forums call me the Heretic Jag..
This is while I was still going through check lists after this final iteration..(three in 45 years)

Looking at your pictures. Both are Gen 1 small blocks.
I have to ask. Why such a high mount for the alternator in the Jag ? Is it because of the tightness of the inner wheel wells ?
Really don't care for the flex fan in it. Ask me how I know about that junk.

Oldblue 03-09-2019 06:44 PM

I’m thinking, the space between the inner fenders would warrant that bracket.
nice work!
That style flex fan was all the rage , 40 or so years ago, one cleared out the rad in my 67GMC pickup, that cooked the 500 Caddy mill. My first truck, pulled out the 327 4 bolt main 4 bbl , my brother wanted that for his 48 Anglia.
