Wanted one for a long time, finally got one!

Guess I should go ahead and do one of these.

Hi, I'm Travis and I'm a new HHR owner. I'm married and my wife and I have a 3 year old son who is non-verbal autistic. I've wanted an HHR for a few years, but was never able to put the funds together, which meant driving cars that weren't exactly in great condition and many of which could have legally drank while I was driving them. My most recent car bit the dust when the A/C stopped working and the car started overheating constantly. I was tired of putting money into it only for it break down again so I parked it a year ago and only recently had my brother-in-law take it far away. My wife and I have been sharing a car for the past year, which has been a chore since we both work full time and our son just recently started Pre-K. So I pulled $3k out of my 401k, borrowed another $1500 from my dad and finally grabbed an HHR. It looks great and runs great. Just a few annoying little issues like the power mirrors switch not working (fixed that myself yesterday), the 4 door speakers are all out, there's a loose power outlet, and it only came w/ 1 key and no fob. Nothing huge, and it gives me a chance to learn my way around the car and how to fix the annoying things myself (Ii'm definitely NOT a car guy). This is going to be interesting to say the least...

Welcome, and congratulations!
You will find pretty much all you need to know to fix up and work on it here.

These guys (some of them!) REALLY know their stuff and are glad to answer questions.
Just be sure to learn to use the SEARCH feature and read all the STICKYs first. :thumb:

Hi and mirror question

Aquatik, hello from a fellow new HHR owner! I just bought a 2009 HHR LT 2.4L. I was reading your post, and I my HHR is having problem in which my power mirrors are not working. I was wondering if could you share how you fixed yours? Thanks!
At the moment, I have the HHR in the garage jacked up on jackstands. I have to replace the sway bar stabilization end links. But after I'm done with that and I have it back on the ground, I want to work the power mirrors. As well, the passenger side power window is not working from driver's door switch (works on passenger door).

I just went to Autozone and grabbed a new power mirror switch for like $40, then pulled the interior door panel off and switched it out. Worked like a charm. I DID have to file the hole for the mirror switch tab to make it a little bigger as the switch I got was just slightly too big for the stock hole. So be prepared for that just in case.

You don't HAVE to take the door panel off, it is possible to do it without.
