We just took out 07 LT2 for it's first long trip. Had room for a medium dog cage and all our luggage. Even with the weight, we averaged 26 MPG. I did use premium fuel for the duration of the trip. Not that expensive and it boosted my 2.4 big time.

Just turned 100k miles on my 06 LS today. Other than the normal knocks in the front end, the only problems Ive had are 1 right front wheel hub bearing, replaced it my self. left side interior door handle broke off, fixed it for $50 my self vs $400+ for the dealer. Ignition would not release the key, turned out to be shifter problem. Dealer repaired at no charge after misdiagnosing and replaceing the ignition cylinder, which was $275. The other major problem was a loss of power and shut down of the engine, my wife waited 10 min and the car restarted and she was able to continue to work, took her he GTO and I drove the HHR to the dealer. The throttle body or something was bad. $400 to resolve that. So in the end, not counting tires, brakes which I replace, and oil changes which I do, the total cost of repairs is under $1000. Another $1200 for tires brakes and oil changes, and it hasn't been a bad little car. Very low cost of onership. Now to put 145k more miles on it to beat the 245k that I put on my 86 celebrity wagon. It is well on its way. It does not use any oil, averages 24mpg in the everyday driving and have gotten 36mpg hwy on several trips..

HHR dependable?

Two days after I got this thing I had to take it back for a "Service Engine" light. That was September, and I just had to take it and get the transmission repaired because something broke in the shifter. It wasn't covered under warranty either even though I have an extended warranty. It just has 42 K miles.

I've had zero problems with my HHR. That's about as good as it gets.
