This turn signal was a one-off invention of Oscar J. Simler, who invented and patented a similar turn signal in 1929. Turn signals were not offered to consumers purchasing cars until 1939, and they were more widespread in the late 1940s, when large numbers of car manufacturers offered them to consumers.

Hmmmmmmm, sounds like you've got the same problem up there that we have down here. I always thought that since people don't, won't, can't, use them that it must have only been an option when they purchased their car. Then again, maybe it's just not cool to use them. But, if you'll notice, they kind of went out of fashion about the same time common sense and common courtesy fell by the wayside too! Yeah, I had a "real" good day too!

I like people that are courteous enough to use their turn signal...........after they slam on their brakes. No turning signal is bad enough but late turning signal kills me. It is so pointless to hit the turning signal after the brakes. I wonder if anyone ever turned on their signal just as they're getting slammed into.

I hope she don't don't see this.........my wife has a habit of turning on the signal as she's MAKING the turn. Annoys the hell out of me! Most of the time when I ride with her I have the visor straight down; what you don't see, don't scare ya!!
