Cobalt SS Non Turbo/Supercharged

Ok, probably a dumb question for most....but was the supercharger or turbo an option on the Cobalt SS? I went with my friend yesterday to test drive an '06 and it just had the 2.4 in it, and there was no boost gauge or anything. I guess I thought all SS's were a SC/Turbo, but maybe not? Was an SS just the fancies model?

I thought they were all one or the other (SC or TC) It could have been a fake SS you guys saw.

from 05-07 there was 2 SS models.

2.4L naturally aspirated SS (came in 4 door also)
2.0L supercharged SS (known as SS/SC on the forums)

in 08 & 09 there was 2 SS models.

2.0L turbocharged SS (known as SS/TC on the forums, same setup as the HHR SS)

in 2010 there was only 1 SS model.

So it's just a cheaper wannabe version? Ha ha ha

We didn't like it anyways. Way too many miles for the price, could tell it hadn't been taken care of, bottom of the doors were rusty, and the bumpers were all scuffed up. No way was it worth 10k!

the 2.4L is actually a pretty nice setup. 171hp/163tq and loved mods & tune.

but yes, it was sort of a wannabe. a quick way to tell a SS/na apart from a SS/SC or SS/TC is the lip kit on the front & rear bumpers. also wheels, SS/na had chrome 17s while the SS/SC had chrome or gunmetal 18s, same design tho. the SS/TC has 18s also but they are a silver split 5 spoke.

Yep, they actually changed the name from SS to Sport on the N/A versions. There was quite an uproar over having two SS's with one not having the same guts as the blown one. I believe the N/A recieved the same suspension. I've even read were people thought they got a great deal on a SS but when they popped the hood, there was no supercharger. Don't know if the SS N/A could come with a 5 speed but any Cobalt SS listed with an auto is a dead giveaway.

Isn't it true that like the panel HHR SS, there were only a handful of SS/TC 4dr Cobalts made? I believe they're about as rare too.
