Comfort on Long Trips

Many of you have taken long trips in your HHR. I was wonder how comfortable you thought they were. I previously drove a minivan which had plenty of room but handled poorly, especially in the wind. I love my HHR but I know it has a very limited tilt in the steering wheel and very short arm rests. How did you overcome this? Are there any handling problems with it fully loaded? It's time to take #1 son back to college. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

3 weeks ago, I drove 2,050 miles from Newport News VA to Orlando Florida around and Back to Newport News VA. I enjoyed every minute of being behind the wheel and cruising along. I had no discomfort, plenty of cd's and some movies to keep me sane. I have a mini-van and made the same trip in it last year. The HHR just kicks A--! No comparison, Not to mention the average gas consumption was about 24 mpg ( I have a very Heavy Foot).
HHR all the way. I am now waiting for the Biltmore Bash in September which should be around 1,000 miles when finished. can't wait to get cruising:nuts: .

We have taken a couple of trip each about 500 miles round trip and no problems. Wife would complain if she was not comfortable and has not said anything yet.

Gotta jump on the bandwagon here......a few road trips and just as comfortable as can be. Plus not near as much of an issue with crosswinds on the hiway like in the minivan!

I make the trip from VA to OH every so often to visit my folks back home. I have to drive the WV turnpike through the mountains, and as they say, not a straight road in WV either. The HHR is MUCH more comfortable and easier to handle than our Explorer which we usually took on this trip before getting the HHR.

Only one complaint here. and that is the plastic arm rest on the doors. Everything else is very comfortable. Might look into getting some kind of softer arm rest. Maybe get a soft leather insert with foam under it for all the doors.
