Michelin tires do well @ JD Power

I look at this website a lot. They have an article on Michelin tires. I thought I would pass it on.http://www.auto123.com/en/info/news/...tid=89347&pg=1

 I've been using Michelin tires since about 1961 whenever it came time to replace worn ones. I've never taken off perfectly good tires just to replace them with Michelins though. That seems a bit much to me! The only new car I remember coming with Michelins was my 1986 Honda Prelude. (That was a Great car.:thumb: )

Never cared for Michelins. I've had two blow out on me (two seperate cars) for dry rot. Not good for tires that still have over 50% tread left and only a couple of years old.

But, YMMV.

My '04 Elantra came stock with OEM Michelins. The consensus in the Hyundai community is that they s*cked big time, which was my experience as well. (No grip, fast wearing, but they were quiet) But, we learned some time ago that car manufacturers custom-order their tires (the OEM part) to brand-name companies with substandard specs to get a cheap tire. I'd bet that it is the case as well with our Firestone Affinity.

I was looking at Micelin tires at Costco the other day....man they are expensive. If that's the supposed wholesalers price, I'd hate to see what they cost at full retail.

I bought a new Peugeot in 1969 that came with Michelin tires (Peugeot owned them). I drove the car over 100,000 and sold it back to dealer with the original tires on it.

:p: I've never had a blowout, or any other kind of problem with Michelins over the years, and on several cars. I believe I'll stick with them.:thumb:
