my OEM 2007 AC Delco battery

IT now sits on my work bench, been in my ride since it was built in 2007, Voltage still tests @ 12.7, & passed my last load test.

I have a new battery in now. But I almost don't want to turn the old one in for the $22 core charge. There's still life in it.

But I know it would konk out one day when I'm away from home or something like that. Guess I've grown attached to it, I would check it most every year, I will miss the 2 screw plugs on the ends to check the acid level tho.

I've still got mine...

In your ride ?

I think I will get tired of moving it around to make space & go get my $22. core charge refunded sometime soon.

Greybeard999 09-25-2018 09:44 PM

Nah... I replaced it a couple of years back. But I don't trade in a good battery as a core.

Makes sense, it's too big for my mower, but a good quick portable source of power.

Knowing the Amp Hour Rating, load test it to the max and see where your Voltages goes to. As Amps go up, Voltage goes down. This is what happens. If you get 9.6 or 10 Volts the battery is toast. If it doesn't contact Tesla.

It's toast. I did remove the decal a while back, after a post by Donbrew, & I unscrewed all, 6 caps & the sulphation is quite visible, no surprise,

Time to recycle that battery, it’s toast!

sleeper 09-27-2018 08:21 PM

Blue- I turned it in today, time to move on from that one.

Maybe a marker note over the work bench , marking the date
