Radon Gas

I bought one of these:

I liked the idea of constant monitoring as opposed to sending a short term or long term sample kit to a lab.

Same price whoever sells them. Anyhow, it's been plugged in a week and so far the readout has gone from an initial reading of 1.6 down to 1.5 then hung around alternating between 1.7 and 1.8, presently its showing 2.1

So I guess it works. EPA says our area is avg 2.0 picocuries indoor radon level.

You should have an abatement system installed. Good investment for future sale.

If it gets up to or beyond 4.0 PCi then I will. Encapsulating the crawl space would not be that hard, I just need to get a bunch of duct mastic and seal all the overlaps and joints in the visquine plastic vapor barrier. Also, it has an open sump (to a daylight gravity drain), which I need to put a lid on.
