Not my regular mechanic, this was at the local Chevrolet Service Center 5 miles from the house. My regular mechanic is very reasonable is a recommended shop for at least 3 big auto insurance companies.

Chevy shop did at least get the power steering part in to do that recall yesterday, but I still have to go back when they get their key machine fixed for the other two. This was a separate message, apart from the estimate:, "airbag connector" $483, but yet the airbag light is out now, & has not come back on?

I'm clueless how they came up with the things they listed? Seems like they just rolled me for $200.... "Thermostat & coolant", this LS is running cooler than my LT ever did. The LT always ran around 180-190F in winter & 190F-200F in summer regardless of length of trip. So far I've yet to se a temp reading above 170F in the LS. "R/F CV Axle" is the one that was replaced after previous drivers accident, I could however see how a small shop might forget to replace the ABS Sensor on that side after rebuilding it, guess maybe they installed the CV Axle incorrectly too?

Might try the other Chevy dealer 18 miles away.....

The abs sensor is integral to the hub wheel bearing assembly, the wire might be loose in the connector.

Thermostat is definitely bad, It's stuck open, takes about 10 minutes idle time to warm up to normal operating temp. Got a Murray direct replacement thermostat from O'Reily for $25.

Wrong thermostat, the AC Delco 131-158 thermostat opens in the time frame the ECM is monitoring to ensure fuel efficiency and performance.
most other thermostats might work for a while then sadly you get the cel P0128. I ve tested several brands back in the day! Stant, MotoRad, Murray, AC Delco gold, to name a few.

Also have a GM 131-158 on order but 2 weeks estimated delivery. Looks like a chore getting to it though....

I used 10 mm 1/4 inch drive socket with 12 inch extension and 6 inch extension from the top.

And now this:

Happened while driving home for lunch. Guess I'll pickup a coolant temperature sensor on the way home tonight... at least it's in stock across the street from work!

That just means the P0128 is triggered. Not necessarily the sensor.
Dealer shops usually use a third party check off sheet more based on mileage rather than actual eyes.

It’s not the temp sensor, it’s the thermostat, like I posted earlier. And be sure to burp the coolant
