Scared S**tless Saturday
Drove to Cleveland to visit my daughter on Friday. We left late in the evening and stopped at Park and Eat in Erie for a very late dinner. We continued our ride home on Route 90 - a 4 lane highway. Around 1:30 AM on Saturday morning, my wife, who has never been in the car without a seatbelt says: "Got to get the cookies from the backseat - taking off my belt - don't get in an accident".
Well, within 30 seconds, she's facing the back and a car is coming right at me in the other lane - in other words, someone thinks they're on a two-lane highway and they're in my passing lane. The car was doing at least 80 and went by me like a rocket. I aimed it towards the side of the road and immediately called 911 - shaking like a leaf. Within about a minute a trooper went flying by on the other side. Cars continued to pass by me as I sat there, so it became apparent that no one got killed. Meanwhile, my wife never even saw it happen - which is probably good... I'm guessing that someone with way too much to drink went down the on-ramp. Sure makes you know that sometimes there's not much you can do....... |
