HHR? And why do dislike these things?

Me: 1- I really don't like that it is front wheel drive(makes it hard to change out parts-work on). 2-That the water pump is driven off the timing belt(hard to replace).3-Chevy does NOT support or listen to there customers after they have made there purchase.

First off...their*

Second off, maybe it would have been best to have gotten something else? Disliking FWD vehicles, and a belt driven pump seem like two big things to overlook when purchasing a vehicle.

Third, elaborate on how GM does not listen to or support their customers?

Timing belt?

Who needs a belt driven pump, when you can have a chain driven pump?!

I dislike uninformed people spouting off about a car when it is apparent they have no idea what they bought or how to maintain it!
And as Flower taught us " if you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all!!!

I'd drill a 1/8" hole in it, and call it good. ;)

Ok ....... I meant to say TIMING CHAIN and instead of there-it should be their!
Is that better?

Chevy did NOT listen when they did the steering recall on the cobalt & NOT the HHR- is it NOT the same platform, just a different body(now the recall applies to the HHR).

1970judge 04-03-2015 02:57 PM

.....so they DID listen then?....

The water pump rarely fails! I have replaced a couple just because I thought 200K was enough, the bearings are still good. I saved the old one. The problem with them is that the weep hole is at the top in a well, so you never can see anything leaking.

Front wheel drive "(makes it hard to change out parts-work on)"; huh? everything is in one place. Once you figure out that you have to remove the air cleaner assembly EVERYTIME you work under the hood, it's really easy. Sometimes you need to understand that you can remove the motor mount and jack the motor up & down (the motor/trans only weighs about 200 lb and the 2 tranny mounts can hold it for a little bit).

The theory is; much like air cooled VWs you can just drop the entire thing pretty easily, if you want to do intense work. The entire drive train is held into the body with a total of 10 bolts, 6 on the strut towers, 4 on the cradle.

Easiest oil & filter change on the planet.

Work on a F450 if you want to complain about getting to things.
