Wipers sit on windshield when stopped
Wipers sit on windshield when stopped
I had a wiper go out on the driver side so I replaced the wiper transmission with a part from Rock Auto. The wipers now both work fine but when I turn the engine off, the wipers do not return to the bottom of the windshield. They are partly up. I see no marks on the new (or old) part about where the assembly should be when installed to make the wipers drop into the cowling. Any suggestions, tutorials you can point me to? It is a 2007 Chevy Optra.
Had to think a minute about the Optra model, it was never brought into the U.S. by Chevrolet, but here's a link to site where you'll be able to find the info you need.

Perhaps a Canadian member will weigh in, the Daewoo produced Optra/Lacetti was exported into the Canadian home market.
Or maybe a google search for a Daewoo forum, unfortunately there don't seem to be more than a handful of bits from the Chevy parts bins that made it into the Optra/Lacetti and the HHR.
Moved to the Lounge, due to this being about a Daewoo built Chevy.

That's a good lead, however, this really isn't a specific Daewoo Optra question. This must happen with many Chevy models. The simple question is how does one line up the wiper transmission when installing so the blades retract properly? I haven't found any specific topic headers about wipers here but it must be somewhere. Any links appreciated about WIPERS, not Daewoos.
At least on the HHR there are very difficult to see "bullseye" marks on the windhield to mark where the end of the wiper should be when parked.
Does that help?
And then I went outside to take a pic and discovered they are not present on my Chinese replacement windshield. I thought they were part of the spec.

If you removed the wiper blades from the geared stems, then you just need to reposition them.
What Don is trying to explain.....
If you have the OEM windshield (or a good quality replacement
)you should be able to locate a small circle or dot where the outer tips of the wiper blade "parks". The driver side is located almost center and about 1 1/2 inches above the cowling. The passenger side is located almost at the fender and door line.
Just remove the tab, then the nut and pull off the wiper arm. reposition using the locating "dots" and reassemble.
