World Famous Texas Chicken Ranch Memorbilia for Sale on Ebay

thought this was interesting

http://search.stores.ebay.com/pineri...797589QQsofpZ0

Some interesting facts about the actual La Grange, Texas chicken ranch that were not so well known:

Founded in 1844, the Chicken Ranch operated in peaceful co-existence with the law and the small town of La Grange throughout its 129-year history. In fact at the time of it's closing, it was the oldest continually operating brothel in the nation. The real-life brothel got the name The Chicken Ranch during the depression because, when the men couldn't afford the $3 cost of a visit to the house, the girls began accepting poultry as payment for their services.

The doors were finally shut forever on August 1, 1973 however because of its former reputation customers showed up for more than two years still looking for the place.

Um, yeah - and ZZ Top wrote a song about it, called appropriately; "La Grange."

"however because of its former reputation customers showed up for more than two years still looking for the place."

And because of the ZZ Top song...it came out right around then and was quite popular!

no comments like that, come on guys
i will delete the thread

i love texas memorabilia and that is 129 years of texas history, and if you notice i am not the one mentioning hookers. my dad always said, when you point at someone eles there are 4 fingers pointing back at you.

i thought it was interesting and funny finding it on ebay. there was a movie w burt reynolds and dolly parton done on the Chicken Ranch. Made major news in Texas for a while in Houston and channel 8 in Houston got it shut down. funny movie and great actors on it.

my favorite song from the movie- ohhhhhhhhh, I love to do a little sidestep

I bought a wood dominoe set cause i love to play dominoes. played 42 in college and did the World 42 championship in Weimar, singles and doubes 5 years in a row.

i have texas memorabilia and look for it all the time. that is how i found it.
