1st set of brakes at 97k!
Yep, just changed the pads and rotors on my 2006 HHR. It turned 97k this morning on the way to Autozone to get brake parts cleaner and caliper slide grease. I put one crossdrilled and slotted powerstop rotors and scorched ceramic brake pads. They weren't that much more expensive than stock replacement ones. It was the Powerstop K3116 set.
The crazy thing is my stock ones still had about 30% of their material left, and hadn't even gotten to the squealers, but I have gotten the front brake shake from them at times. Still, my car should stop better.

on my first 2 cars,06 cobalt, 07 hhr 2.4l, the rotors were warped within 10,000 miles or so of me owning them. the brake pads however i never changed on either vehicle because they were in such good shape. i distinctly remember my cobalt when i was putting new tires on, inspecting my brakes around 35,000 mile or so. and they still had at least another 35,000 to go. it seems like the factory pads are good and the rotors are junk....

I had my originals in my 06 HHR replaced at 92,000 milkes both front and rears. Both still in good shape, but in looking at replacement cars, nothing out there looks good at this time, so I just updated the HHR.

I'm curious what type of driving these long "lifers" are doing? I know the first 47K, mine were great. Moved to Atlanta, downhill from there.
My FIL always brags about his brake life, but 80%+ of his is all interstate... He's at 130K now.

any suggestions on best pads, not really life? My bro uses I think hawk pads, on his ss, and its lasted roughly 4 years, and i guess 40K and still had alot of life left. here in texas it gets hot, and i got a feeling i Need rotors as well. Gotta start finding out which ones are best, and I know some came with Brembo, but I mean, I know they arent the "Best"
