Let's say if a person was to do the dropping of fluid and filter himself, how much fluid do you put back in? It's easy to take the cap off of the top to fill it back up, but there is no way to measure it to make sure you have enough. Mine is an 06 LS with 89,000 kilometers or 53,400 miles, and as far as I know the fluid has never been changed!

When I went to the dealer for some work, they did transmission service on my 06 HHR with a little over 50,000 miles on the clock. I thought it curious that it was a recommended service by the dealer however the owner's manual says 100,000 miles. I thought the transmission was a sealed unit, so I am unsure how to access the drain or refill.

the chevy dealer charges $180.00 to change trans. fluid, I went to a tranmission shop ha could naot change says it takes a special filling attachment only the dealer has it. my factory manual says to change at 50,000 miles my summer temp. over 100f for months so will cannge soon as i have 42,562 miles better to be safe than sorry.

But, does the auto in the HHR have any sort of drain or pan? Also, with no dipstick, how would you refill it? |
I have 50k on my 06 and the local shop quoted me $200 to do a tranmission fluid flush. My manual says to service the tranmission every 50k but only in certain conditions which they call "severe service". The footnote says: "If you do not use your vehicle under any of these conditions, the fluid and filter do not require changing." Ref to pages 6-6 and 6-7of the manual. Is this true?

If your Owners Manual, which is issued by the manufacturer, says that, what part of it are you questioning as not true?:duh:
Seriously though, I noticed by your info that you are in AZ. If you are in the hotter portions of the state, it might be wise to have a trans flush done.......especially if you do a lot of stop and go, city type, travel. Many GM people consider Arizona's hot temperatures, combined with a lot of city driving, and idle times, severe duty. I changed mine @ 5 years. |
2007 with 117000 miles
:thumb:I find it hard to believe no one has more than 100,000 miles on their HHR. Mine is a 2007 LT1 that had 49,000 miles on it when I bought it and it has 117,138 miles on it today. Love it!!

My local Merchant's/NTB/Tire Kingdom will not do a trans flush over 100K. I am thinking about doing a drain and filter and adding a cooler sometime, but only thinking.:corny: |
